Frequently Asked Questions

My Anti-Virus Program reports a trojan in CacheBerry Desktop?
This is a "False Positive" from the Avast AV software. CacheBerry desktop is completely free of malware and is digitally signed to prevent tampering. If you are experiencing this issue please complain to Avast (www.avast.com).
UPDATE: Avast support have personally checked the file and tell me the false positive has been removed from the latest database, if you are experiencing this issue please ensure you have the latest signature database for Avast AV.

Can I email my Pocket Queries to my BlackBerry?
Yes, if you are running OS 4.5 you can now email Pocket Queries directly to your BlackBerry, when creating your Pocket Query at Geocaching.com do NOT select the "Compress files" option. When the email arrives on your BlackBerry select "Open Attachment" then select "Download Attachment" and save to your SD card - now you can use CacheBerry's "Import GPX" function to load the caches.

How can I keep my cache listings up-to-date in CacheBerry?
Import your regular geocaching.com pocket queries using the “Merge with Existing Data” option to update existing cache listings with the latest information from geocaching.com, any new caches will added to CacheBerry automatically.

Why do I get errors when I try to send a GPX file via USB?
 1. You must initiate the receive function (“Receive GPX via USB”) on the BlackBerry before you click “Send to Device” in CacheBerry desktop.
 2. You must have the BlackBerry Desktop Manager or USB drivers (www.blackberry.com) installed on the PC
 3. If you have enabled password security on your BlackBerry device you must enter the correct password in the CacheBerry desktop app.

I copied a GPX file to the SD-Card but CacheBerry can’t find it?
When using the SD-Card (Media Card) in “Mass Storage” mode (ie. It shows up as a removable drive on the desktop PC) it is not available to applications on the BlackBerry device. You must disconnect the BlackBerry from the desktop computer before CacheBerry will be able to read files from the SD-Card.

I get an "Open Tunnel" error when I select Google Maps
Please check your APN setting under BlackBerry Options | Advanced Options | Tcp, the correct values can be obtained from your carrier (or try an Internet search for "APN" and your carrier's name).
